Terms of Service

Mnemo (mnemo.study) is run by Mnemo Study, a small Australian business based in South Australia. In these terms, “Mnemo”, “we”, “us” and “our” mean that business, and “you” means the person using Mnemo.

By creating an account, buying anything, or otherwise using Mnemo, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use Mnemo.

You can contact us about anything in these terms at hello@mnemo.study.

You must be at least 13 years old to use Mnemo. If you are under 18, you need a parent’s or guardian’s permission to use Mnemo and to make any purchase.

Please give accurate details when you sign up and keep your login secure. You are responsible for what happens under your account. If you think someone else has access to it, tell us straight away.

Accounts are for one person. Please do not share your login.

When you use Mnemo, you agree not to:

• break the law, or upload material you do not have the right to use;
• upload anything harmful, such as malware, or content that is abusive, hateful or sexually explicit;
• try to get around plan limits, payment checks or security measures, including by creating extra accounts;
• copy, scrape, resell or republish Mnemo, its question bundles or other users’ shared quizzes, beyond what the law allows;
• use Mnemo to cheat in a test or assessment where that is not allowed;
• interfere with Mnemo or put an unreasonable load on it.

You keep ownership of the notes, files, links and quizzes you add to Mnemo. You give us permission to store, process and transform them only as needed to run Mnemo for you: for example, to read a PDF, generate questions from it, schedule your reviews and show you your progress.

We do not sell your material and we do not publish it. It only becomes visible to other people if you share a quiz (see section 6).

Mnemo uses artificial intelligence (AI) services run by other companies to generate questions, answers and explanations from your material. AI can make mistakes: a question may be unclear, an answer may be wrong, or something important may be left out.

Generated quizzes are a study aid. Please check anything that matters against your own source material, especially for exams, professional, medical, legal or financial purposes.

You can share a quiz you made by creating a link. Anyone who has the link can open it without an account, so only share quizzes you are happy for others to see, and only if you have the right to share the material they are based on.

A shared link shows a copy of the quiz’s questions as they were when you shared it. How many questions a visitor sees depends on whether they are signed in and on their plan. Signed-in visitors can save a copy of a shared quiz to their own library, and that copy stays in their library even if you change or delete yours.

Shared quizzes are hidden from search engines, but anyone you send the link to can pass it on. Quizzes from purchased question bundles cannot be shared.

Mnemo has a free plan and a paid plan, Mnemo Pro. Each plan comes with limits, such as how many quizzes you can generate each week and how many questions a quiz can have. The current limits are shown on our pricing page and in the app.

Generating quizzes costs us real money, so we may change these limits, or add others, to keep Mnemo running fairly. If we reduce what your paid plan includes, we will tell you before your next renewal so you can decide whether to continue.

• Price. Mnemo Pro is billed monthly or yearly, in Australian dollars, at the price shown before you pay. Mnemo is not currently registered for GST, so no GST is added.
• Renewal. Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period, and we charge the same payment method, until you cancel.
• Cancelling. You can cancel any time from Settings. You keep Pro until the end of the period you have paid for, and you will not be charged again.
• No refunds for unused time. When you cancel, we do not refund the rest of the current billing period, except where the law requires it (see section 10).
• Price changes. If we change the price of Pro, we will email you at least 30 days before the new price applies to you. You can cancel before then if you do not want to continue.
• Failed payments. If a renewal payment fails, we and our payment provider may try again. If it still cannot be collected, your account moves back to the free plan. Your study material stays in your account.

A question bundle is a ready-made set of practice questions, such as our Australian Citizenship Test bank, sold as a one-off purchase in Australian dollars. It is not a subscription and does not renew. Mnemo Pro does not include bundles.

• Your access. When your payment is confirmed, a copy of the bundle is added to your library. You keep access for as long as you have a Mnemo account and Mnemo offers the service (see section 15).
• For your own use. A bundle is licensed to you for your personal study. You may not share, copy, resell or republish its questions. Bundle quizzes cannot be shared, and a bundle cannot be deleted from your library.
• Corrections. We may correct or improve questions in a bundle after you buy it. Where a question’s correct answer changes, your progress on that question may be reset.
• Try before you buy. Where we offer free sample questions for a bundle, please try them first. Because a bundle’s questions can be viewed and copied once it is unlocked, we do not offer refunds if you simply change your mind. This does not affect your rights described in section 10.

Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. If you live elsewhere, the consumer laws of your country may give you similar rights. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or changes any right you have under those laws.

Under the Australian Consumer Law, if there is a major failure with a service, you are entitled to cancel your contract and to a refund for the unused portion, or to compensation for its reduced value. You are also entitled to be compensated for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. If the failure does not amount to a major failure, you are entitled to have problems with the service fixed in a reasonable time and, if this is not done, to cancel your contract and obtain a refund for the unused portion of the contract.

In short:

• If something you paid for does not work as described (for example, a bundle has many wrong answers or will not load), tell us at hello@mnemo.study. We will fix it, or refund you where the law requires.
• Change-of-mind refunds are not offered for Pro (beyond cancelling, as described in section 8) or for bundles.
• If you are charged by mistake, for example twice for the same thing, we will refund the extra charge.

There is no fixed deadline for telling us about a problem, but please contact us as soon as you can. If you dispute a charge with your bank instead of contacting us, we may pause the related access while the dispute is open.

Mnemo is independent. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to the Department of Home Affairs or the Australian Government.

Our citizenship practice questions are written by us from the official resource, Australian Citizenship: Our Common Bond. They are not the questions used in the real test. The official booklet, and the rules on the Department of Home Affairs website, are the authority on what you need to know. Doing well in our practice quizzes does not guarantee that you will pass the test.

Payments are processed by Stripe. Your card details go straight to Stripe and are never stored by Mnemo. Stripe’s own terms and privacy policy also apply to your payment. Charges appear on your statement as “MNEMO”.

The Mnemo app, website, design, logo and our own content, including question bundles and practice pages, belong to us or the people we license them from. These terms do not give you any ownership of them. Quizzes generated from your own material are yours to use for your own study.

You can stop using Mnemo at any time. To delete your account and the study material in it, use “Request account deletion” in Settings or email hello@mnemo.study. If you have an active Pro subscription, please cancel it first. Deleting your account ends your access to any bundles you bought, and this is not a reason for a refund.

We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, or puts Mnemo or other people at risk. Where it is reasonable, we will warn you first and explain why. If we close your account without good reason, we will refund any unused part of your Pro subscription.

Mnemo is still growing, so features will change. We will try to keep Mnemo available, but we cannot promise it will always be uninterrupted or free of errors.

If we ever decide to close Mnemo, we will give you at least 30 days’ notice by email, refund any unused part of a Pro subscription, and give you a way to export your study material.

This section applies only as far as the law allows, and never limits your rights in section 10.

We are not responsible for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable, or for losses caused by AI-generated content you relied on without checking it. Where our liability for a failure to meet a consumer guarantee can be limited, it is limited to supplying the service again or paying the cost of having it supplied again. Otherwise, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

These terms are governed by the law of South Australia, Australia. You and we agree that the courts of South Australia can hear any dispute. If you live outside Australia, this does not take away any protection the consumer laws of your own country give you.

We may update these terms as Mnemo changes. When we do, we will post the new version here and update the date at the top. If a change materially affects you, for example a change to how billing or refunds work, we will tell you by email or in the app before it takes effect. If you keep using Mnemo after that, the new terms apply.
